Ideal for scenic proposals in places like the Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, or the Great Ocean Road.
Mid afternoon the light can tend to be too harsh and direct and in Summer can be really really hot. Trying to get someone outside in 38 degrees can be tricky.
Rainy days
Moody, romantic, and very Melbourne. Always have a loose backup plan, but don’t panic — rain often adds magic. I always have a few umbrellas with me just in case

Carlton Gardens, Melbourne
A timeless option for a Melbourne garden proposal, especially in the early morning or a good option for lunchtime, a great picnic spot. Central, elegant, and quietly romantic, then easy access to sooo many restaurants and bars to celebrate after. I should also note there is no photography permit required for here. Below you will find a beautiful proposal from Carlton Gardens, around the area are some stunning spots to have photos afterwards.
Fitzroy gardens is also aanother beautiful spot.
Restaurants and Cafes
There is an abundance of restaurants and cafes to choose from, Crown towers is also a popular spot as well. You can hire a suit and propose inside then can take some photos in and around the hotel.
Botanical Gardens – I need to mention this place does require a photography permit ( although I have snuck in and only been caught once haha. ) So it is up to you if you would like to risk it….

Galleries and private houses around Melbourne for your Proposal
As stunning as so many galleries and Private houses like NGV, Ripponlea, Montselvat etc… they are really strict on permits and permission. Really easy to obtain though and not too expensive for a proposal prices start form $250 per hour, extras potentially include afternoon tea, champagne etc…. Can increase costs.
But you are more than welcome to use the outside of the building it is stunning.
Yarra Valley
Perfect for a winery proposal near Melbourne, combining stunning views with a relaxed, luxury experience. Most wineries will charge a fee ranging from $300 to $4000

Carls Hut

Carl’s Hut is located just 1 hour from Melbourne in the heart of the Yarra Valley, on Solitude Estate vineyard, a private top 50 vineyard in Australia that is dedicated to making wine how nature intended.

There are lots of smaller indipentedt wineries that I always suggest supporting, the bigger ones are stunnning soon’t get me wrong but are often busy and quite congested. Small independent wineries can be more romantic and tucked away.

Great Ocean Road
Ideal for couples wanting an epic proposal location in Victoria. Vast scenery, emotional impact, and unforgettable views.
Oh my goodness there are so many locations along the Great Ocean Road for your Melbourne Proposal. The great ocean Road holds a very special place in my heart indeed. I fell involve with my now husband along this glorious stretch of Road. It is certainly magical. There’s something so extra about the Roaring wild unpredictable ocean crashing into the coast line.
As of 9th Feb 2026 Gibsons Steps has re opened yay!! This spot is stunning!!I do need to point out proposal time is determined by tide times, When the tide is due to come in you can get rogue waves and they are not to be laughed at. Safety in this area is of the utmost importance. But when the tide is on the way out and low it is safe and wonderful to explore. A better view and access point for the 12 apostles.
There are lots of wonderful beaches that are private and secluded from Anglesea to Lorne.
There is also some wonderful Waterfalls to explore as well Erskine falls is a beautiful spot.

Phillip Island proposal
Wild, windswept, and beautifully raw — a great option for a destination proposal near Melbourne with fewer crowds. amazing experiences distilled into one easygoing island sanctuary. Near enough to reach on a short drive from Melbourne but far enough to feel like you’ve had a real escape, Phillip Island is Victoria’s holiday sweet spot. Flinders proposal
Quiet, rustic, and deeply romantic. Perfect for couples who want something understated and meaningful.
Flinders is one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most charming villages, with a historic streetscape shaded by broad verandahs, excellent eateries, gourmet produce stores, boutique shops, galleries, antique outlets, a famous golf course and coastal walks. Flinders fronts onto the calm waters of Western Port in the west with a small yacht club and a 250m long pier popular for fishing. There are many pretty sheltered beaches and offer spectacular views across Western Port to Phillip Island. Plenty od Bed and Breakfast and small motel to offer a weekend getaway.
On the southern side of West Head, the ocean breaks over the basalt rocks of Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary which is home to one of Victoria’s best intertidal and subtidal rock platform reefs, popular for beachcombing, diving and snorkelling. It borders the Mornington Peninsula National Park that offers a rugged coastline of cliffs and ocean beaches from Flinders to Cape Schanck along its southern frontage onto Bass Strait. To the west of Flinders, just off Boneo Road, is The Blowhole which includes walking tracks along the rocky coastline and over huge basalt boulders.
Flinders is approximately a 1 hour 25-minute drive (100 kilometres) south of Melbourne.

Sorrento
A polished yet relaxed choice for a beach proposal in Victoria, especially at sunset along the back beaches. Just over an hour from Melbourne, Sorrento is one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most iconic coastal towns.
With its white-sand beaches, sandstone buildings, boutique shopping and elegant eateries, it’s the perfect mix of laid-back luxury and seaside charm.My fav location is one that’s rather magical. Perched high above the ocean with sweeping views of the coastline, this location is raw, romantic, and completely unforgettable. a secluded space where time slows down and love takes centre stage. Whether you arrive just in time for golden hour or choose a sunrise moment with the waves crashing below, this clifftop escape feels like something out of a movie.
Again I don’t publish this spot Flinders cliffs became very popular once everyone found out where they were that’s not a bad thing it’s gorgeous and needs to be shared. But for proposals I do like to find secluded intimate spots.
Ok Wilsons Prom
It is far, yes far! But wow Squaeky beech is the most accessible. You can easily stay in B+B is and around the area or you might be into camping and can spend the weekend. Wilsons Promontory National Park is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape. I respect the deep and continuing connection that Traditional Owners have to these lands and waters, and I recognise their ongoing role in caring for Country. This is also a unesco world heritage site so utmost care must be taken in the area.
Near the area there is also a gorgeous spot in Foster called Gurney cider this is a great lunch spot and I have captured a few weddings here.
